This product is no longer sold by Mindscape. You can find it on Amazon.com and other websites, but Mindscape will not provide customer support or technical support.

Because 140,000 Cliparts's manufacturer, Mindscape, is based in Europe, this clip art product is priced in Euros. When translated to American dollars, the cost of Clipart 140,000 is comparable to the other inexpensive clip art products.

Clip Art Variety:  

140,000 Cliparts includes a few different products on their discs, including a browser, Hijack Image Manager 1.5, Mindscape Control Firewall, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and a free subscription to Clipart.com.

Hijack Image Manager 1.5 is simply a browser to help you find and capture clip art. This does the same thing your regular browser does, so we felt it was unnecessary. A firewall is unrelated to clip art, so we didn't analyze this software in our review. Adobe Acrobat Reader is necessary for viewing some file types, but is typically free as a download online. And, we've evaluated the website Clipart.com in a separate review.

Search Capabilities:  

We weren't impressed with the search tools on Cliparts 140,000. The Hijack Image Manager didn't offer true search tools, the program simply allows for browsing of file hierarchy. With this method, finding the right clip art images takes much longer.

Clip Art Quality:  

Most of the clip art available with 140,000 Cliparts are web images, but the quality is fine. The largest variety of clip art is available through the limited online subscription, also provided with the CD set.

Customer Service:  

Mindscape responded to our email requests quickly.

Summary:  

Our contention with 140,000 Cliparts is that, though customer service is supportive, the disc set doesn't offer anything unique. Instead, we'd opt to join the online membership at Clipart.com or spring for a larger clip art disc set, such as The Big Box of Art 1 Million or Art Explosion 800,000.
