For the price, Art Explosion 300,000 is one of the best values Nova Development offers. This package offers half the images as their top product, but sells for less than half the price.

Nova Development is shopping for clip art consumers at all price levels; in all, we've ranked four of their clip art packages in prices ranging from about $100 to about $30. This version, like the other larger packages, works with Vista.

Clip Art Variety:  

If you are accustomed to choosing from millions of clip art images, you'll find the variety in Art Explosion limiting. This version also lacks fonts that larger Art Explosion versions include. But limited quantity isn't a curse if you want a basic clip art image fast and don't have time to review hundreds of options.

Search Capabilities:  

Using the Art Explosion search tool (called a "portfolio browser") is fairly easy; first you select an image type, put in the proper disc and then perform a search by category or subcategory.

Unfortunately, you cannot search the entire set at one time; such a tool would be useful to find clip art that is so specific that you must look in several locations to find it.

For example, if you want images of Chinese flower vases, you may have to search the floral section and the Asian section to find what you want. Switching discs is time consuming. Searching a thumbnail file of the entire library would be better, as our #2 pick, The Big Box of Art 1 Million allows.

Art Explosion 300,000 also doesn't offer a printed clip art catalog as is offered in Nova Development's more expensive clip art packages, Art Explosion 800,000 and Art Explosion 600,000.

Clip Art Quality:  

The quality of the clip art in Art Explosion 300,000 is excellent. We found a variety of quality clip art images on basic topics easily.

Customer Service:  

Nova Development customer service is good; after a few tries, we received a response to our emails and we reached representatives by phone easily.

Take note that Art Explosion operates on all Windows Systems, except Windows NT.
